Lady Gaga and The Muppets' Holiday Spectacular
Dir: Gregg Gelfand

Christmas isn't Christmas without the Muppets. Disney seem to know this because they do what every Muppet fan wants and provide a Muppet Christmas Special every year. What they fail to understand though, is that the Muppets are good enough on their own and do not need some pointless flavour of the month celebrity to back them up. The Muppets make or break celebrities, they outlive celebrities, they will be around when half the celebrities working today are forgotten and unable to even get reality TV work. They do not need, for instance, Lady bloody Gaga!! The Lady Gaga & The Muppets' Holiday Spectacular is spectacular though. Anything that can fail so badly, be so repulsively horrible and still get onto TV during the most important time of year in the TV calender is pretty spectacular in my book. The Muppets aren't allowed to really do their thing, it's the old 'We're unprepared, what do we do, we have no acts' routine they seem to dust off every time Disney decide to exploit them once more. Why do they do this? Sure they're bankable but surely if you just let them do their own quality stuff that is doing very well at the moment, they'll make heaps of money without loosing credibility. Disney are making all the same mistakes with the Muppets that got them into trouble between Muppets of Oz and 2011's The Muppets. It's incredibly frustrating to see my childhood favorites being treated with such disdain, it tells you all you need to know about the Disney machine. Lady Gaga is what she is and I'm no prude but isn't this a family TV movie? Why is she only wearing underpants? and then in another scene where even RuPaul looks shocked, she's wearing a giant Condom dress! In the previews she is wearing a coat made out of lots of little dead Kermits, I mean, what the hell is that all about? Larry King wouldn't have let any of his guests do that! This is horrible viewing. It's like watching your Wife having sex with a game show host or watching your favorite pub burn down, please, leave my Muppets alone!!!!
