The Rainmaker is a solid law based drama that is as good as you'd expect from a John Grisham adaptation. It's all about the cast though, if they hadn't been as likable as they are then i'm not sure the average script would have been enough to make it a good film. It could be seen as a companion piece to Steven Soderbergh's Erin Brockovich although one represents the end of an era and the other a modern trend setter. An interesting contrast considering they were made only three years apart from each other.
