The Brady Bunch never aired in England so the 1995 film is my very first encounter with the much loved American 60's sitcom. It's no surprise then that any in-joke there might have been flew right over my head. Was it a good update of the original? You'd have to ask someone else. There were quite a few updated film versions of old US sitcoms being produced in the 90s, most were bad. I think the Addams Family was probably the best. The Brady Bunch did seem to keep the self-knowing part of itself on the subtle side and I thought the script was pretty funny for the most part. The story was fairly cliched though, especially in the updated US sitcom category.
