Mischief Night
Dir: Penny Woolcock
2006
*
A completely misguided mess of stereotypes, misconceptions and contradictory ideas. What the hell does an Argentinian know about life in a Yorkshire estate? I lived in the roughest part of Middlesbrough in the late 90's for three years so it's not without some authority when I say that Penny Woolcock, the cast, producers etc can stick this grubby little film where the sun don't shine (other than Middlesbrough). This is not a great work of fact or fiction. There are too many crappy little films like this made in the UK, it's played its part in the downfall of the industry. Next time you see a poster that says that it's either the new Billy Elliot/East is East/Full Monty etc, give it a wide birth.
