Elektra
Dir: Rob Bowman
2005
**
To the film's credit, it is a female lead Superhero film that concentrates solely on the female lead without feeling the need to stick a guy in there. However, it is glaringly obvious that it was made by people who have never read an Elektra comic. Rob Bowman is a great director but Zak Penn, Stu Zicherman and Raven Metzner's script left very little for him to work with. A case of too many writers I think and only Penn has made up for it since. I'm glad Marvel have got their act together since and hopefully Elektra represents the Superhero/comic films of old before people really knew what to do with them. It really is spectacularly dull and Elektra isn't anything like the Elektra of the films. You have to wonder what the great Terence Stamp was thinking but even the best have their off films. Elektra upped the game and put pressure on the studios but only because it is quite possibly the most boring modern Superhero/comic film ever made (apart from Lightspeed).
