Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No!
Dir: Anthony C. Ferrante
2015
*
The joke is well and truly over in this third installment of what has become one of the most baffling successes of recent years. The Sharksploitation sub-genre was pretty much dead in the water until the 2012 Sharknado raised a wry sigh and a slight titter and they should have left it there, as a wry sigh and a slight titter is as good as the franchise ever got. Sharknado 3: Oh Hell No! seems to rely primarily on short and rather random cameos from the very cream of the Z-list. When Jedward are included in the opening credits but only appear as extras you know the bottom of the barrel has been well and truly scraped. I know the bad effects are part of the 'magic' but surely spending just that little bit more on them would have been money well spent? It is extremely difficult to watch all the way through, not because it's stupid but because it is unbelievably boring.
